Coros has officially unveiled the Nomad smartwatch, a purpose-built device designed to compete directly with Garmin’s highly regarded Instinct 3, but at a more affordable price point. Tailored for hikers, climbers, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts, the Nomad blends rugged durability with thoughtful tools that enhance every adventure.

One of its standout features is the Adventure Journal within the Coros app, allowing users to tag locations, store photos and videos, and even record voice notes to relive outdoor moments later. Hardware-wise, the Nomad boasts an MIP display optimized for visibility in all lighting conditions, while its aluminum and polymer bezel, hardened mineral glass, and 50-meter water resistance provide reliable toughness. Navigation is powered by dual-frequency GPS, ensuring accuracy across even the most remote terrains, while eight distinct fishing modes showcase Coros’ commitment to niche adventurers.

Battery life is another major selling point. In All-Systems GPS mode, the Nomad delivers 50 hours of usage, surpassing Garmin’s Instinct 3 at 32 hours. In standard mode, it runs for up to 22 days, compared to Garmin’s 18-day rating. Combined with its vast array of sport modes, intuitive design, and Coros’ proven reputation, the Nomad is positioned as a serious alternative in the outdoor smartwatch space.
At $349, the Coros Nomad undercuts Garmin’s entry-level Instinct 3, which starts at $450. While real-world testing will determine whether it can dethrone Garmin’s favorite, the Nomad offers an intriguing package of performance, endurance, and value that outdoor adventurers will find hard to ignore.
