The Air Jordan 11 is built around contrast: mesh against patent leather, white against black, basketball hardware against formal-shoe shine. COMME des GARÇONS removes most of that tension from its new collaboration, reducing the silhouette to near-monochrome black and white editions.

Both versions retain the Jordan 11’s familiar high-cut patent-leather mudguard and sculpted midsole, but the usual color blocking gives way to a more uniform material treatment. The restrained palette shifts attention toward proportion and gloss rather than team colors or archival storytelling. It is a characteristically CDG move: edit an instantly recognizable object until its construction becomes the graphic.

That restraint also separates the release from a conventional retro. The Jordan 11 remains one of the most recognizable basketball-derived sneakers, but the collaboration treats it less as sports nostalgia and more as a design object that can sit alongside tailoring. The black pair is especially severe; the white version lets the patent leather read through changes in reflection rather than color.
The COMME des GARÇONS x Air Jordan 11 launches September 5 through Dover Street Market and COMME des GARÇONS channels. The release is exclusive to those stores; official U.S. pricing had not been published at the time of writing.
