Coleman’s Snap ’N Go Cooler Collapses to a Third of Its Size

The Snap ’N Go collapsible hard cooler offers multi‑day ice retention, a rigid frame and a design that compresses to one‑third when empty.

Coleman has introduced a considered answer to one of camping’s most persistent inconveniences: the sheer bulk of traditional hard coolers. The Snap ’N Go collapsible hard cooler retains the insulation and structural integrity of a rigid design, yet compresses to roughly one-third of its height when empty. It’s a simple idea, but one that addresses a practical limitation often overlooked in outdoor gear design.

The mechanism behind the transformation is equally straightforward. A rigid insulated lid and body are paired with folding structural panels that collapse inward, allowing the cooler to compress vertically for storage. Whether tucked into a closet, stowed in a vehicle compartment, or slid under a bed, the reduced footprint makes it far easier to live with between trips. When expanded, however, the cooler regains its full form and strength, capable of supporting up to 200 pounds and ready for use in about ten seconds.

Functionality extends beyond storage. The design incorporates a multi-carry system that adapts to context—carried like a traditional cooler when loaded, or like a briefcase when collapsed. Inside, a removable waterproof liner with antimicrobial properties simplifies cleaning while helping to minimize lingering odors, a small but meaningful detail for frequent use.

Available in 35-, 45-, and 55-quart capacities, the largest version can hold up to 93 cans and maintain ice for approximately 64 hours under typical conditions. The smaller sizes scale down in volume while preserving multi-day cooling performance, making the range adaptable to everything from day trips to extended outings.

By reconciling durability with compressibility, the Snap ’N Go reframes what a hard cooler can be. It doesn’t attempt to reinvent the category outright, but instead refines it—prioritizing storage efficiency without compromising the core expectation of reliable cold retention.
