Bulova’s latest collaboration with Windup Watch Shop feels refreshingly restrained. Instead of chasing oversized cases or exaggerated retro cues, the Sea Hunter Windup Edition refines the fundamentals of a classic dive watch: balance, legibility, and durability.

Built on Bulova’s existing Sea Hunter platform, the limited-edition model removes the date window entirely, replacing visual interruption with a clean, symmetrical dial layout. The dial itself arrives in a deep hunter-green tone that shifts subtly depending on the light, paired with warm off-white indices and matching handset details that reference mid-century dive watches without leaning too heavily into nostalgia.

The stainless-steel case maintains the robust proportions expected of a modern tool watch, while the unidirectional rotating bezel reinforces its utilitarian roots. Rather than polishing every surface into luxury territory, Bulova keeps the finish mostly brushed, giving the watch a more understated and wearable character. The absence of unnecessary text on the dial further contributes to its calm visual balance.

Inside sits the Miyota 8125 automatic movement, sourced from Citizen Group’s proven movement architecture. The caliber prioritizes reliability and serviceability over unnecessary complication, aligning neatly with the watch’s broader philosophy. It is the sort of movement chosen for consistent daily use rather than collector-box fragility.

Windup Watch Shop also pushed the watch away from conventional enthusiast tropes by pairing it with a nylon strap instead of a steel bracelet. The decision makes practical sense for a diver while subtly emphasizing the Sea Hunter’s field-watch sensibility. It also keeps the overall weight comfortable for long-term wear.

Only 225 examples of the Sea Hunter Windup Edition will be produced. Seventy-five pieces will be reserved for the remaining 2026 Windup Watch Fair events, with the rest released online in limited batches between shows. Pricing is set at $380, with deliveries expected to begin in June.

More importantly, the collaboration demonstrates an increasingly rare kind of discipline in enthusiast watchmaking. The Sea Hunter Windup Edition does not attempt to reinvent the dive watch. Instead, it succeeds by refining familiar elements until very little feels out of place.
