New for 2021, Bulgari introduces the Bulgari Octo Roma Worldtimer with its distinctive octagonal case and round bezel with faceted lugs. The new Octo Roma Worldtimer comes in a steel case with a blue dial and integrated steel bracelet featuring a triple-blade folding clasp and a blue sunburst dial and indicators. The 58 facets of the 41mm diameter watch case feature alternating brushed and polished surfaces in steel. The screw-down crown has a ceramic insert. Both on top and the reverse side of the case is a sapphire crystal.
In classic world-timer fashion, its dial enables a quick reading of the time in all of the globe’s 24 major time zones, using a double rotating disk on the outer edge, one inscribed with a 24-hour scale, and the other with the names of 24 world cities. The local time is displayed on the typical skeleton hands of the Bulgari Octa Roma on applied numerals and markers.
Underscoring its intent as a jet-setting vacation watch, several of Bulgari’s Octo Roma Worldtimer’s 24 cities are neatly expressed as holiday hotspots — from Cabo San Lucas down in Mexico to the island getaways of St. Barth and the Maldives. Then, of course, as a nod to Bulgari’s deep Italian roots, the collection’s namesake and Italy’s capital, Rome, gets top billing on the dial, occupying the space usually reserved for Geneva, or some other Swiss location in the cradle of watchmaking. Inside the Octo Roma Worldtimer, Bulgari uses the new BVL257, which does follow the B-V-L designation that the brand reserves for its own calibers which are developed at its Le Sentier manufacture. This is a semi-complex automatic comprised of 261 parts with both a 12- and 24-hour time display. Each watch comes with a handsome complimentary Signature Box along with a Bulgari fragrance sample.
