Elmer T. Lee was the man who crafted the first batch of single barrel bourbon. This year would mark his 100th birthday. To celebrate his place in the history and lore of distilling the spirit, Buffalo Trace is releasing the Buffalo Trace Elmer T. Lee 100 Year Tribute Bourbon.
The limited edition bottle of bourbon whiskey uses the same mash bill, giving it the same taste and finish as the normal Elmer T. Lee Bourbon. However, the proof is kicked up to 100 proof from the typical 90, so there’s a bit more of a kick to this batch.
Even though the Buffalo Trace Elmer T. Lee 100 Year Tribute Bourbon is 50 percent ABV it is easy to drink – its robust taste features notes of coffee, maple syrup, and vanilla. The depth of the bourbon’s flavor profile makes it perfect to sit back and sip slowly to savor the aromatic bouquet as it envelopes your palate.
The Buffalo Trace Elmer T. Lee 100 Year Tribute Bourbon will go on sale for $100, with proceeds going to the local VFW where Elmer was a member until his death.
