British watchmaker, Bremont, and Rolls-Royce have teamed together to develop the fastest electric aircraft in the world. In the creation of the plane aptly named “The Spirit of Innovation”, Rolls-Royce insisted on having a good “old-fashioned stopwatch” installed in the plane’s cockpit. Bremont delivered and has the distinguished title of ‘Official Timing Partner to Rolls-Royce.’ To celebrate their partnership, Bremont has released a new mechanical pilot timepiece called the Bremont ionBird.
Bremont’s ionBird uses lightweight aviation-grade titanium to fashion its 43mm case, which houses a BE-93-2AV chronometer rated GMT movement. With its highly readable face, the numerals and bronze hands are very eye-catching. The exhibition case back has a chronometer movement with an anti-shock movement mount. A nubuck leather strap with white top stitching or a sleek steel bracelet are available. Keep watch in early 2021 for Rolls-Royce to challenge the current 212 mph speed record for an electric aircraft — their goal is to break 300mph+. The test pilots will most certainly be wearing Bremont’s ionBird.
