A car famous for hidden machinery has inspired a watch that puts its most civilized detail in plain sight. The new Breitling Top Time B01 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Aston Martin DB5 frames its dial with real wood, borrowing the warmth of the grand tourer’s hand-finished cabin rather than leaning on gadgetry.

The release comprises three 41mm chronographs: stainless steel with a silver dial, steel with a platinum bezel and black lacquer dial, and 18-karat red gold with an onyx dial. Production is limited to 1,022, 315, and 250 pieces, respectively. The proportions are familiar Top Time territory, but the material hierarchy gives each version a distinct character instead of merely changing the palette.

All three use Breitling’s manufacture Caliber 01, an automatic column-wheel chronograph with a 70-hour power reserve. The cushion-shaped case measures 13.3mm thick, carries 330 feet of water resistance, and arrives on a hand-colored brown calfskin strap with a folding clasp. The wood-inlaid inner bezel is the persuasive detail: it softens the instrument-panel layout without turning a racing chronograph into costume jewelry. A sapphire display back reveals the movement.
The steel DB5 Top Time is priced at $11,400, the steel-and-platinum edition at $18,600, and the red-gold edition at $41,500. All are listed through Breitling’s U.S. site and boutiques.
