Under the direction of multi-talented automotive, architectural, furniture, and product designer Sacha Lakic, the custom bike builders at Blacktrack Motors have crafted some exceptional cafe racers before, in the form of the Honda CX500-based BT-01 and the Triumph Thruxton R-based BT-02.
The base bike for the new BT-03 cafe racer is the 2018 Harley-Davidson Softail Fat Bob 114, but the true inspiration for the latest Blacktrack design dates back more than four decades.
As a child, Sacha Lakic was mesmerized by the Harley-Davidson XLCR – the only cafe racer in Harley-Davidson’s long and storied history. The BT-03 doesn’t seek to mimic the original 1977 XLCR, but rather capture its essential ethos through details such as its signature nose fairing, classic seven-spoke wheels, and strikingly angular and elongated fuel tank and tail section.
