Handcrafted in Fleurier, Switzerland, and designed especially for the particular gentleman who wants to be envied for his classic style and exquisite taste, the Birchall & Taylor Reference 1 is a near perfect watch. Born from the many late-night conversations of two Canadian watchmakers who had the ultimate goal of creating the ideal timepiece, the Reference 1 is simple and elegant, with the devil being very much in the details.
As efficient as it is stylish, the Birchall & Taylor Reference 1 watch has a coveted ‘Grand Feu’ enamel dial, which is the most difficult art in watchmaking to successfully master. The soft glass is hand-fired in a 1,000-degree oven which gives a rich and lustrous appearance and unmatched craftsmanship. Classically adorned with nine strategically placed hand-beveled bridges to frame each component, ceramic ball bearings in the automatic winding assembly, curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a 29-jewel tungsten micro-rotor with a 48-hour power reserve, the Reference 1 is watchmaking at its finest. Add the refined 38mm stainless-steel case, the see-through sapphire caseback, and a black strap made of Louisiana alligator leather, and you have a true class act in the Birchall & Taylor Reference 1.
