When Balmain dropped its Spring/Summer 2020 collection at Paris Fashion Week on June 21, the crowd was perhaps too wowed by the sheer spectacle of it all to pay appropriate attention to details such as footwear. But the new Balmain Troop Strap Trainer requires a second look.
Described by British retailer Selfridges & Co. as a “technical” shoe with “industrial-like straps,” the Troop Strap Trainer is composed of a balanced mix of leather and mesh. The “strap” part of its name points to a unique fastening system that threads a Balmain-branded strap over the exterior of the shoe. Of course, the shoe is also kept secure on the foot using traditional laces.
You can also personalize your Troop Strap Trainers through the Balmain Corner Shop at the company’s Oxford Street store. There are four complimentary customization options to choose from spray painting, studding, embossing, and tattooing.
