Switzerland’s Aquastar is back a year after releasing the popular Deepstar Chronograph. Now the brand is releasing the Deepstar II, described by Aquastar as “an evolution of the Deepstar from 1963.” Retaining the same case dimensions of 37mm as the original and relying on the same bezel patent, it offers a unique and crisp mono sub counter dial. With its easily recognizable design and the patented multiple dive decompression bezel table, the Deepstar II is a peerless diver-oriented tool. With a lug to lug of 47mm and a thickness of 13mm, this watch will likely appeal to a wide audience.
The Aquastar Deepstar II is offered with a sunburst dial in a choice of Steel Grey, Vintage Black, or Blue Ray. It boasts large applied hour markers at the cardinal positions, and an oversized “big eye” subsidiary register used on the watch to indicate running seconds. The Deepstar II runs on a Sellita SW-290 automatic movement with the date wheel removed. The water resistance is 200 meters, and pre-orders ship with both a Horween leather and Tropic Rubber strap (a beads of rice style bracelet will also be sold separately). The pre-order price is $1,490, and full retail is $1,890.
