Apple’s latest MacBook Pro refresh brings serious performance boosts and sleek design updates to its flagship lineup. Now featuring the all-new M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, the 14- and 16-inch models are ready for high-powered workflows, creative projects, and demanding multitasking. Available for pre-order, these models keep the classic MacBook Pro aesthetics while adding a new Space Black color option and an extra Thunderbolt 4 port on the right side, allowing for more connectivity in a compact form.
The M4 Pro and M4 Max chips make this the fastest MacBook Pro lineup to date. The M4 Pro offers a multithreaded performance boost thanks to 14 CPU cores (10 for performance and 4 for efficiency), while the M4 Max steps up with a 20-core GPU, nearly double the GPU power of the base M4. These upgraded chips enhance ray-tracing and machine learning, making the laptops ideal for developers, video editors, and 3D designers who need top-tier performance. The Neural Engine is twice as fast as previous versions, ensuring quicker AI-driven processes across Apple’s expanding suite of intelligent features.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro now starts with 16GB of RAM instead of the previous 8GB, offering improved performance right out of the box. Thunderbolt 5 ports are another first in the MacBook lineup, providing up to 120 Gb/s data transfer speeds on the Pro models, ideal for fast external storage or advanced video workflows. This extra power doesn’t detract from battery efficiency, as Apple’s silicon delivers some of its class’s best energy efficiency.
Beyond power, Apple has refined the user experience with an updated 12-megapixel webcam that includes Apple’s “desk view” for better video quality, even in low light. Coupled with a nano-texture display option that reaches up to 1,600 nits in HDR, the new MacBook Pros bring the best of Apple’s display tech to the professional sphere.
The M4 Pro chip in the 14- and 16-inch models starts at $1,999 and $2,499, respectively, while the base 14-inch model starts at $1,599 with a generous upgrade to 16GB RAM. These new chips offer faster single and multi-threaded performance, faster GPU cores, and enhanced ray-tracing, making these machines perfect for creative pros and tech enthusiasts alike. The laptops also bring improved machine learning with a more advanced neural engine, which is ideal for growing AI features. Preorders are being taken now, and the line will be available starting November 8.
