Apple just pulled off what few brands dare: it quietly dropped a trio of significant upgrades. On Wednesday, the company introduced its new M5 chip and rolled out refreshed versions of the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro, all of which are built around the same processor. Preorders are now live, with shipping scheduled to begin on October 22.

The M5 isn’t just iterative — it promises over four times the GPU compute power for AI workloads compared to the M4, bringing serious AI muscle to Apple devices. On the iPad Pro, Apple claims “up to 3.5× the AI performance” of last year’s model, and 5.6 times that of the M1 version. The MacBook Pro sees equally steep gains: AI workflows accelerate, graphics performance jumps (up to 1.6×), storage is faster, and battery life now stretches up to 24 hours.

The Vision Pro also receives the M5 treatment. It features enhancements in display rendering (+10%), an increased refresh rate to 120 Hz (from 100 Hz), and AI-powered features that run 50% faster. Battery life increases by 30 minutes, providing 2.5 hours of general use or 3 hours of video playback. The headset also gains a new Dual Knit Band for added comfort.

Pricing remains stable: the iPad Pro starts at $999, the MacBook Pro at $1,599, and the Vision Pro (second-gen) remains at $3,499. The upgrades aren’t about flashy redesigns—they’re about unleashing more performance behind the scenes, pushing AI, and leveling up what Apple devices can do.
