Apple has officially dropped its most compact M4 Mac mini, which is equipped with the new M4 chip and a sleek, downsized design measuring just 5×5 inches. Following a recent accidental Amazon leak, Apple introduced this ultra-compact version of its beloved desktop, which promises not just a smaller footprint but also substantial power upgrades. According to Apple, the new design is made possible by the energy efficiency of Apple Silicon and a revamped thermal architecture.
Under the hood, the M4 chip delivers up to 1.8x faster CPU performance and a 2.2x boost in graphics power compared to the M1. However, the real power lies in the M4 Pro model, which maxes out at 14 CPU cores, including ten performance cores and a 20-core GPU, effectively doubling graphical performance. The new Mac Mini now supports Thunderbolt 5 for ultra-fast data transfer, up to 64GB of memory, and a whopping 273GB/s memory bandwidth.
Port options abound, with convenient front-facing USB-C ports, a high-impedance audio jack, and additional Thunderbolt ports at the rear. Users can connect up to three 6K displays on the M4 Pro model, making this an ideal hub for creatives and multitaskers. Starting at $599 for the M4 model, this Mac mini offers serious power in a desktop that fits in the palm of your hand. Pre-orders are open now, and Apple fans can expect the new Mac mini by November 8.
