With numerous outlets already having reported on the upcoming features of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, we were fairly well prepared for what to expect. Despite the monumental leakage, Apple has officially announced its next generation of iPhones today.
The new iPhones come with the obligatory upgrades in performance, but what is more important is the experiences it allows within the upcoming iOS 9. Their biggest innovation for the new phone is 3D Touch, which basically seems like a new name for Force Touch. This allows for new interactions for the multi-touch system such as ‘peek’ and ‘pop,’ adding a new layer of dynamic system that is deeply integrated into iOS 9.
The cameras get an upgrade as well, but the most interesting feature may be Live Photo that takes advantage of the more powerful camera as well as 3D Touch. Live Photo will capture 1.5 seconds of each side of the photo, allowing the user to press on the photo to see a short video clip of the moment.
As predicted, the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus adds a new rose gold color to the lineup and will retain the same pricing starting from $199 for the iPhone 6S and $299 for the 6S Plus with a 2-year contract.
Preorders start on 9/12 and the phone will be available on 9/25.
