Apple has officially introduced its new iPhone 17 lineup, unveiling the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, as well as the all-new iPhone Air, at its Cupertino headquarters. While each device comes with meaningful upgrades, it’s the iPhone Air that marks the most dramatic leap forward, delivering Apple’s boldest redesign since the iPhone X in 2017.

The $999 iPhone Air is Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date, measuring just 5.6mm while housing a 6.5-inch always-on ProMotion display. Built from lightweight titanium and reinforced with Ceramic Shield protection around the entire body, the Air strikes a balance between elegance and rugged durability. Inside, Apple’s new A19 Pro chip drives performance with advanced AI acceleration, supported by neural accelerators across its GPU cores. Paired with the energy-efficient C1X modem and N1 wireless chip, the Air is designed for all-day battery life despite its slim frame.

Apple has also enhanced the Air’s camera system with a 48-MP Fusion sensor capable of 2x telephoto-style images, dual-camera video recording, and the company’s new Center Stage technology. Users can now record front and rear video simultaneously, a feature aimed at social creators and live-event enthusiasts.
The standard iPhone 17, priced at $799, features a larger 6.3-inch ProMotion display, Ceramic Shield 2 with twice the scratch resistance, and the A19 chip, which is 20% faster than its predecessor. Camera upgrades include a 48-MP Fusion primary sensor and a 12-MP wide-angle lens, along with enhanced selfie stabilization. Storage now starts at 256GB, doubling that of the iPhone 16.
At the top of the lineup, the $1,099 iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max adopt a new aluminum unibody design and a vapor chamber cooling system, promising 40% better sustained performance. Both models carry the A19 Pro chip and feature triple 48-MP Fusion cameras, with the Pro Max offering up to 8x optical zoom via a larger telephoto sensor. The Pro Max also claims the longest-lasting iPhone battery ever, reinforcing its position as Apple’s ultimate flagship. Preorders for all new phones start on September 12th.
