Disney and Lucasfilm unveiled the highly-anticipated teaser trailer for their upcoming Star Wars series, Ahsoka, at the Star Wars Celebration event in London. The spin-off series of The Mandalorian will follow the story of the former Jedi knight, Ahsoka Tano, portrayed by Rosario Dawson, as she investigates an emerging threat to the galaxy. Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka is set to debut exclusively on Disney+ in August 2023.
Along with Dawson, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren from the Star Wars Rebels animated series, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla. Other cast members include Ray Stevenson, and Hayden Christensen, who is expected to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker. The show is written by Star Wars Rebels co-creator Dave Filoni, who also executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck, with Karen Gilchrist serving as co-executive producer.
The Star Wars Celebration event was held at London’s ExCeL Centre, which holds the UK’s largest auditorium. Thousands of fans are attending the event over the Easter weekend, wielding their lightsabers to celebrate the Jedi universe and its many iterations.
Ahsoka is one of the many projects that Disney and Lucasfilm have in store for the Star Wars franchise. With its rich history and dedicated fanbase, the Star Wars universe is set to continue to expand, bringing new adventures and characters to audiences worldwide.
