On Thursday, adidas announced the adidas Spezial Summer ’22 Collection, with five silhouettes leading the collection’s footwear line. The Adilette SPZL is a slide-in with an off-white colorway and black embossed mod Trefoil and Spezial branding, while the ZX 620 SPZL is modeled after the adidas ZX-series runners of the late 20th century. The Warszawa SPZL is an extension of adidas’ famed City Series with maroon suede uppers, bright yellow synthetic leather stripes, and a navy rubber outsole. The Stapfen SPZL is a flat suede shoe from the adidas archive that features a unique lacing system with rope laces, a brown suede upper, tonal brown suede overlays, and a gum rubber outsole. Finally, the Yabisah SPZL is a sleek runner re-make of from the brand’s famed ‘Island Series’

Accompanying the adidas footwear, the Summer ’22 collection includes a new ‘Calavadella Jacket’ in a seasonal peach colorway and ‘Portinatx Shorts’ in a sand colorway and round trefoil badge. The Spezial collection Manarch TT Tracksuit is a refined take on the Beckenbauer silhouette. Assorted t-shirts and polos are also available. Accessories including the classic Parbold II Bag and a graphic Patch Bucket hat complete the summer series.

The British electronic music group Working Men’s Club released a cobranded film on the electronic music scene in Northern England featuring the band’s lead singer Sydney Minsky-Sargeant featuring the new collection in his hometown of Todmorden, England. The Spezial silhouette was released in 1979 in Germany but slowly was surpassed by other styles. In 2013, Adidas consultant Gary Aspden brought back the Spezial model as part of a special designer line. The limited-edition set is scheduled to drop on August 12th through adidas CONFIRMED and select retailers.
