Prepare for a new chapter in off-road excellence with the arrival of the 2025 Toyota 4Runner. Set to hit the market this fall, the sixth-generation 4Runner promises unparalleled performance and versatility to tackle any terrain. Toyota enthusiasts will be thrilled to discover the innovative changes in this latest iteration, which includes the transition to turbocharged four-cylinder engines for enhanced power and efficiency.

With upgraded crawl control, a locking rear differential, and a new Trailhunter trim designed specifically for overlanding, the 2025 4Runner remains true to its roots while embracing modern advancements. Built upon Toyota’s TNGA-F platform, shared with other iconic models, the new 4Runner boasts increased dimensions for improved cabin space and enhanced stability on rugged terrain.

Under the hood, the 4Runner features the i-Force and i-Force MAX engines, delivering impressive horsepower and torque to tackle even the toughest trails. While the manual gearbox option may be absent, the eight-speed automatic transmission ensures smooth and responsive handling in any driving condition.

The 2025 4Runner is 4.7 inches longer and 2 inches (51 mm) wider than the model it replaces, while also boasting a 2.4-inch longer wheelbase for improved cabin space. At the same time, the new 4Runner is also 1.1 inches longer than the new (North American) Land Cruiser, while sharing the same width (77.9 inches) and wheelbase (112.2 inches).  As with other Toyota off-roaders, the new 4Runner will feature an upgraded Multi-Terrain Select system that now operates in both 4WD-High and 4WD-Low modes. This system offers adjustable settings for Mud, Dirt, and Sand terrains, optimizing traction control.

Toyota caters to every type of adventurer with a staggering nine different trims available for the 4Runner, ranging from luxurious to rugged. Standard safety features like Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 tech suite provide peace of mind on every journey. Specifications on the new 4Runner are limited at present, and we haven’t yet heard any pricing news, but we should know closer to the time it goes on sale in the fall.
