French luxury house, Hermès, has just announced the release of its latest dedicated men’s watch collection for 2021. The H08 Collection features three distinct 39 mm timepieces with sporting-inspired designs. While discussing the new collection, Laurent Dordet, CEO of Hermès said, “We wanted to enhance the Hermès men’s universe with a Sporty watch that is in our own unique style.”  At first glance, the H08 appears to be a simple timepiece that seems to be at home in an urban chic environment. But there are a lot of nuances behind the new collection that highlights the brand’s meticulous attention to detail and top-notch craftsmanship.

All three timepieces stand out for their distinctive font (designed specifically for the H08 Collection) and unusual cushion-shaped case, with each offering a screw-down crown. The watch uses an existing movement, the mechanical self-winding Manufacture Hermès H1837 movement made by Vaucher movement company (which is partially owned by Hermès).  Two of the new models feature titanium, and the third version boasts a graphene-filled composite case. The version with a graphene case has a satin-brushed polished ceramic bezel. Its black, gold-coated dial has a minutes track, luminescent Arabic numerals, and black hands displaying the hours, minutes, central seconds, and date at 4:30. It is finished with a black rubber strap.

The two other versions are a matte black DLC-coated titanium and a satin-brushed titanium with a black nickel-coated dial. Hermès is offering them with a blue or black woven textured strap or with a black or orange rubber strap. There is even a bracelet version, where the center link emulates the geometry of the case and bezel. The H08 Collection fills in one of the most glaring gaps in the brand’s catalog by offering a casual everyday watch that is versatile and tough but still has that uniquely Hermès quirkiness and style.
