If BMW’s X1 was a person, then the new 2019 BMW X2 would be its cooler, more free-living younger sibling. This crossover showcases a host of features that breath new life into the German manufacturer’s compact crossover offering.

The first thing you notice about the X2 is its unique exterior. It is both shorter and lower than the X1 and has more creative styling for the crossover vehicle segment, appearing more as a sporty hatchback than anything. Its kidney grille is also a riff on the brand’s familiar trapezoidal shape, designed wider on the bottom than it is on the top. The grille is surrounded by sizeable air intakes and elegant headlights that feature integrated LED daytime running lights.

Further up on the car its curved windscreen and compact greenhouse give way to a lightly sloping roof and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. LED taillights, dramatic shoulder lines, and BMW logos affixed to the C-pillars make for a breezier, more agile look.

Inside, the design stays relatively unchanged, although the vehicle makes just as bold a statement with gloss black accents; leather, wood, and aluminum trim options; a panoramic glass roof; and an 6.5-inch display infotainment system. Drivers may also be enticed with a LED interior lighting package and a color head-up display available for upgrading.

As for performance, the US version of the X2 rolls along with a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine with 228 hp and 258 ft-lbs of torque. With this boost of power the BMW X2 goes from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and can hit a top speed of 143 mph.
