Audi rolled out the Q8 at the Detroit Auto Show, a flagship crossover that will sit at the top of Audi’s model range alongside the A8. Longer and wider than the second generation Q7, the Q8 is a large and imposing vehicle with an oversized grill and massive 23-inch wheels that only add to the visual presence of the car.
Powering the the Q8 Concept is a plug-in hybrid powertrain mated to a 3.0-liter V6 and eight-speed automatic transmission, good for 442-hp and 516 ft-lb of torque, propelling the massive crossover from a standstill to 62 mph in just 5.4 seconds. The vehicle sits on five-link adaptive aid suspension front and rear, with adjustable damping control that can raise and lower the vehicle as well as switch from comfort to sport mode.
Although the vehicle displayed in Detroit is only a concept, all signs point to Audi more than willing to put the vehicle into production. We’ll have to wait and see if Audi tones down the extreme styling elements when it hits showrooms.
