Rowing over a smooth lake is an exceptional experience. As you glide over the surface of the water, you just might feel as though you are flying. This feeling has everything to do with the unique properties of water itself. Solid yet soft, uncompromising yet yielding, water allows for free movement that often evokes deeper feelings of freedom itself.
Despite the best efforts of countless engineers and designers, stationary rowing machines have long lacked this incomparable freedom of movement. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the answer to this problem has been to incorporate water into the rowing machine itself.
The WaterRower employs actual water resistance with its patented WaterFlywheel – a rotating, doughnut-shaped, water-filled device that pushes back against each row in much the same way that a lake or a river pushes back against the paddle in the natural environment. This mechanism eliminates the jarring and jerking “mechanical” feel that is commonly associated with conventional rowing machine equipment, allowing users to complete uniform strokes that are entirely smooth and even.
The WaterRower is made entirely in the United States using hardwood from certified replenishable sources. Far from an eyesore, this product features a sleek design that occupies a space no wider than a dining room chair when retracted into its compact upright position. Users can easily lay the WaterRower into its operational position within seconds for a quick exercise session.
